Youth Cash Transfer Program Evaluation:

My New Red Shoes is proud to share the results of our Youth Cash Transfer Program. During the 2023/2024 school year, our innovative cash + care initiative provided socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students with unconditional cash transfers combined with comprehensive support services, including personalized case management, academic counseling, financial inclusion services, and access to basic needs services. These wrap-around services played a critical role in fostering trust, motivation, and independence among students and their families.

Key Results:

  • Graduation: 100% of participating high school seniors graduated.

  • Post-Secondary: 100% of seniors from the 2023-2024 school year were enrolled in college or a vocational training program or employed in the workforce 3 months after graduation

  • Improved GPAs: Nearly 40% of participants increased their final GPA from the previous school year.

  • Financial Skills: Students gained essential financial literacy, learning to budget and save money.

  • Increased Motivation: Participants reported heightened motivation to achieve their goals, driven initially by the cash transfer and later by their own success.

The full report details the program’s success in fostering resilience and independence.
